Bedside Reading List

04Mar11

What’s currently in rotation…

The Art of Photography – Bruce Barnbaum – my current photography “textbook,” just started, but once again reminded that you have to have enthusiasm for your subject matter, and also that photography is, for some, an activity that makes the world, the cold, the hunger all disappear and we are completely focused inside of the zone of involvement

Approaching Photography – Paul Hill

Searching For True North – Geir Jordahl – one of my favorite photography books, and remind me that takes decades before anyone can master a craft and develop a vision – I’m going to keep at it

Mountains and Waters – Richard Long – inspiring an upcoming photography project, should I find the time

Odyssey: The Photography of Linda Connor

Empty land Promised land Forbidden land – received for Christmas and excellent in both photography and historical background

In Search of Small Gods – Jim Harrison – one of my favorite authors and poets

The Colony of Unrequited Dreams – Wayne Johnston – fiction on the Kindle, for some odd reason this part of the world interests me, and this is one of only a handful of books that I’ve ever read more than once

Note: Yes, the sweater is that color. He’ll surely not get lost or involved in a hunting accident. It was made by his great grandmother (his mom’s dad’s mom). We just found it and he’s already too big for it. And the cookie jar is one found by my mother in law – when you open it it plays the theme from Jaws. The kids love it (and what’s inside).
